Thin Wall Multi-Layered Electroplated Diamond Core Drills, Manufactured by UKAM Industrial are Multi Layered. They have 3 layers of diamonds, not just 1 layer of diamonds like conventional electroplated drills. This provides longer drilling life, smoother surface finish, faster and freer drilling action, & more consistent performance. Recommended for drilling full range of glass, quartz, optical materials, composites, soft to medium hard natural and semi-precious stone, as well as softer Advanced Materials. It is highly recommended that these diamond drills be used with water swivel adapter Model 5811, 5811S or 58MF to run high pressure of coolant through center of drill.

Can you produce a custom size/diameter or drill depth or mounting type for this type of drill?
SURE we can. However the price would be much higher for small quantity of 1 pc. However if you need a custom size, drill depth or mounting type and quantity of 10+ pcs than price would be similar, because the manufacturing cost is spread across larger quantity
What is the grit size of these drills?
These drills have 3 layers (multiple layers) of diamond. Typically there are 3 different grit sizes of diamond coatings on same drills. This helps provide better diamond retention and stability of the tool. Contact our sales department for specific information.
How can these drills be used on my drilling machine?
These drills have 5/8-11 female thread. They are designed to be used with water swivel adapter to run high pressure through center of drills. Such as our water swivel adapter model 5811 or 5811S. if you would like to use these drills with straight shank without water swivel adapter we have exactly same product but with straight shank such as or 3/8 shank and shorter drill depth (1.59) available on our web site as well.
How do these drills compare to your thin wall (sintered) metal bond diamond core drills?
This is a plated (nickel bond) product. Has only few layers of diamond on surface. Plating is a chemical process similar to plating of other materials such as gold, silver, platinum, and etc. where diamond is deposited using a galvanic (chemical) method to the steel body, hold in place by nickel. Sintered (metal bond) diamond drills are produced using sintering process where the diamond section is pressed together from large variety of metallurgical powders largerly bronze based under high temperature. This has multiple layes of diamond (hundreds). There are advantages and disadvtanges of each method. There is no specific or method. Each one has is advantages and disadvantages on certain applications. Getting back to the question at hand. Precision tolerances on OD and ID of the drill can only be maintain with sintered (metal bond) diamond core drills. As the OD and ID can be ground to high precision desired tolerances. Where a plated drill is much harder to control tolerances on OD and ID as it has only few layers of diamond on surface and hence cannot be grinded in most cases. Sintered (metal bond) drills provide much longer life and plate drills provide typically better surface finish quality in most cases because diamond exposure right at the surface area.
